John Chaplin, Director of External Affairs & Special Projects, The Bristol Port CompanyJohn Chaplin, Director of External Affairs & Special Projects at the The Bristol Port Company spoke at the Forum on Economy and Infrastructure.  He shared that as an island nation, we are reliant upon Ports with 97% by tonnage of all the goods entering and leaving the UK do so through sea ports and that the UK is increasingly dependant upon imports.

He concluded his presentation with the following conclusions – Ports in the Severn Estuary and Bristol Channel provide essential local, regional and national strategic facilities, Estuary Ports support 50,000+ jobs and Estuary Ports must be protected and enhanced.
