Peter KyddPeter Kydd, Chairman of South West Marine Energy Park and consultant with WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff opened his presentation on the current energy policy focussing on a mix of gas, nuclear and renewables, and and all forms of renewables will be likely to be required by 2050 at acceptable cost.

He spoke about Marine Energy – Not if but when? Peter then gave an overview of the Bristol channel and it’s energy potentials and discussed matters on how to facilitate delivery of the Severn Resource with good governance, planning and appetite.

  • Proactively support a diverse development plan for the Severn Estuary and Bristol Channel covering tidal range, tidal stream, wind, floating wind and wave energy resources to help developers, investors and Severn stakeholders.
  • Consider technologies in combination – diverse but optimal development to balance energy output with the regional environment and economy and society.
